His grandfather created the company Werner, which you most likely own one of their ladders. When his father took over the family business, Werner Co. ended up inventing the aluminum and fiberglass ladder, used all over the world, both for commercial and residential use. 

Through the years of being an athlete, Marc had to go through 3 neck surgeries. As you can presume, finding comfort was a challenge, specifically a pillow or mattress that worked for his condition. This inspired him to create Nature's Sleep, a mattress company sold through brick and mortar.
